Soane Museum Enterprises (SME) is a commercial organisation which contributes financially to Sir John Soane’s Museum.

The Company was incorporated by the Trustees of Sir John Soane’s Museum as a wholly owned subsidiary to undertake various trading activities to raise funds for the Museum. Nominated Trustees of the Museum are the registered owners of all of the issued share capital of the Company and hold the shares on trust for the Museum.

In addition to the Museum shop on site and the online shop, SME also manages the brand licensing programme of reproductions and items inspired by the Museum’s collections, picture library sales, venue hire, the Museum’s Lates events, commercial shoots and commercial tours.

All profits from SME go back to funding the Museum’s work.

Shop

The shop is just inside the main Museum entrance at 12 Lincoln’s Inn Fields.  It features a range of publications on the Museum’s collections and exhibitions in addition to a wider range of titles on architecture, London, history, art and more. There is also a wide selection of postcards, prints and gifts, many  of them exclusive to the Museum.

The shop is open during standard Museum opening hours Wednesday to Sunday 10:00 to 17:00.

Most of the shop ranges are available to buy from our online shop alongside tickets for tours and Museum special events.

Venue Hire

It is possible to hire the Museum for a wedding reception, a spectacular dinner or drinks reception, private tours, product launches and for commercial filming and photoshoots.

Licensing

The Museum’s picture archive is available to buy commercially and for use in books, journals and on products. Our Brand Licensing programme seeks to create beautiful and unique products that are inspired by our vast collection. Current product ranges include interior design, home furnishings, garden ornaments, jewellery, ceramics and fashion.
