Celebrate 200 years since Sir John Soane bought his most prized possession; the Sarcophagus of Pharaoh Seti I. Join us in learning, creating and playing the ancient Egyptian board game Senet.
The game of senet was often found in Ancient Egyptian tombs along with many other useful objects to be used in the afterlife. Challenge someone to this game played by the pharaohs and take your own version home to play with family and friends.
About this event
These workshops are free to attend, you can simply drop-in on the day as part of your visit to the museum. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Activities are aimed at children aged 4+yrs but younger siblings are very welcome.
Please note this workshop will take place in the Art Room in the basement of no. 14 Lincoln’s inn Fields, next door to the Museum. There is limited space in the room and therefore we may need to ask families to join our waiting list on the day.
The stairs down to the Art Room are narrow and not suitable for buggies, which can be left outside. There is a baby change onsite. If you require wheelchair access, please get in touch with education@soane.org.uk in advance of your visit and we can arrange this for you.
