Lina Iris Viktor is a Liberian-British multidisciplinary artist who lives and works between Italy and the UK. Working across media, Viktor’s art is a synthesis of painting, sculpture, performance, photography and water gilding with 24- carat gold. Viktor received her BA in film at Sarah Lawrence College and studied photography as continuing education at The School of Visual Arts, in New York. Her work has been the subject of exhibitions at the Fotografiska Museum of Photography, Stockholm & Tallinn (2020); Autograph, London (2019); and New Orleans Museum of Art (2018), among others. She has been included in group exhibitions at institutions including the Hayward Gallery, London (2022); North Carolina Museum of Art, Raleigh (2020); Somerset House, London (2019); Ford Foundation, New York (2019); Crocker Art Museum, Sacramento (2018); Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft, Louisville (2016); Spelman Museum of Fine Art, Atlanta (2016); and Cooper Gallery, Harvard University, Cambridge (2016).
Renée Mussai is an independent London-based curator, scholar and writer with a special interest in Black feminist and queer visual arts practices. Former Senior Curator and Head of Curatorial & Collections at Autograph, London, Mussai has organised numerous critically acclaimed group and solo exhibitions internationally and was responsible for a diverse range of artist commissions, publications, and research initiatives for more than two decades. In 2023 Mussai served as co-curator for R/evolutions, the 14th edition of PhotoIreland Festival, and was chief curator and artistic director of The Walther Collection, New York, USA and Neu-Ulm, Germany. Alongside her research-led curatorial practice, she lectures and publishes widely on visual art and activism; her past publications include several artist monographs such as the award-winning Lina Iris Viktor — Some Are Born to Endless Night (Autograph, 2020) and Zanele Muholi: Somnyama Ngonyama, Hail the Dark Lioness (Aperture, 2018; 2024), and her forthcoming books Eyes That Commit — A Visual Gathering (Prestel, 2025) and Black Chronicles — Photography, Race and Difference in Victorian Britain (Thames & Hudson / Autograph, 2025). Mussai is currently research associate at VIAD, University of Johannesburg, associate lecturer at University of the Arts London, and guest curator at the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia, USA.
